The fourth Galeria Frank Krüger opened on April 13, 2020 in Artà, in the northeast of the island of Mallorca. A big celebration with many friends and guests was planned. However, Corona and the tough lockdown at the time ensured that all plans had to be buried. Instead, Frank and Laura opened the gallery virtually and showed that a lot is possible with flexibility. Today, a year after the opening, some enthusiastic customers were able to visit the Galeria and they all agree: It is worth waiting for a visit, because the gallery is beautiful!
Galeria Frank Krüger in Artà – that’s how it started!
With already two galleries on the beautiful island of Mallorca (Cala Ratjada and Palma) and one in the heart of Berlin, Frank Krüger was very present and offered his customers many opportunities to see the works of art by him and selected other artists. Then he was offered the premises – and it seemed like it was made for a new Galeria Frank Krüger in Artà! With a lot of joy and great ideas, the rooms were renovated, works of art exhibited and everything planned for a beautiful opening ceremony.
The Galeria with plenty of space on two floors for works of art by Frank Krüger and other artists shone in new splendor and Frank and Laura could hardly wait to make it accessible to their friends and customers. But then everything should turn out differently than planned!
Open a virtual gallery? That’s fine!
Invitations were written, the party was planned and the Galeria Frank Krüger in Artà was due to open on April 13, 2020. But then the lockdown came, the home could only be left in exceptional cases and it was clear: the opening could not take place. In such a moment there are two options:
- You wait to see what the future will bring and postpone everything for an indefinite period of time.
- You are flexible, look for alternative possibilities and just go new ways!
Frank and Laura opted for the second option and simply carried out the opening virtually. For an hour they took all interested parties live on a tour of the new Galeria Frank Krüger in Artà and were able to inspire the audience with their cheerful, optimistic manner. So the new gallery was properly celebrated – and the first sales even took place during the live broadcast.
The gallery today
Today, one year after the virtual opening of Galeria Frank Krüger in Artà, Frank and Laura can look back on an eventful year. In the meantime they have closed their gallery in Cala Ratjada and in addition to the location in Palma, the Galeria in Artà has now become the contact point for customers. And everyone agrees: As charming as the gallery in Cala Ratjada was – the premises in Artà are much nicer and more appropriate to present the art!
There is still no talk of normality. Only a few visitors have come to the island so far, so it is not economical to open the gallery every day. However, every Tuesday, the market day in Artà, Frank and Laura are always there and look forward to many visitors and nice conversations.
