The sculpture “Dominia” by Italian artist Emanuele Giannelli is a striking depiction of modern vanity and defiance. Cast in blue bronze, the voluptuous figure wears lingerie, high heels, and a crown, while holding a smartphone to take a selfie.

Her posture and expression convey self-admiration. A bold tattoo on her arm reads “Fuck the System”, symbolizing rebellion against societal norms. What makes this piece unique is the angle of the phone — only she can see her reflection in it. This detail subtly critiques the self-centeredness of social media culture, where validation often comes from digital images. Giannelli’s “Dominia” blends humor and social commentary, portraying the tension between empowerment and the influence of modern media on self-perception.

The sculpture invites the viewer to reflect on how much of our identities are shaped by technology, and how rebellion, self-love, and the digital age intersect in today’s society.
