Very few works of art are really ephemeral and yet there are still those that are simply made for eternity. These include, for example, the bronze sculptures! The sculptures, which are elaborately produced, can really outlast everything and also bring joy to posterity in hundreds and thousands of years! But what makes these bronze sculptures so special?
Bronze sculptures are truly unique!
Whether by Christian Sommer or Emanuele Giannelli – Frank Krüger has really unique and impressive bronze sculptures by extraordinary artists in his galleries, which you can never get enough of. Shape, structure, material – everything fits with these sculptures and nobody can just walk past them. And even if many enthusiastic art fans can well imagine the work behind such works, most are still surprised and, above all, impressed when they learn more about it!
For example, did you know that various molds must first be made before the actual sculpture can be cast? From the artist’s idea, a model is created that not only shows what the end result should look like, but above all serves to create a negative mold out of plaster. This in turn forms the basis for the positive wax mold, with which a hollow model of the sculpture is created. Before the wax model is processed and retouched by the artist again, it is given a core of gypsum chamotte and finally another cover made of the same material. This model is then not only dried in the kiln, but the wax layer it contains is also burned out. This creates a cavity into which the bronze, heated to around 1250°C, is finally poured.
Many work steps lead to the result
One might think that the process of creating the bronze sculpture is as good as complete – but it’s far from over. After casting, of course, the plaster shells have to be removed so that the actual bronze sculpture emerges. Then it is important to work out all the details that make the sculpture so special during the chasing. In addition, many different tools are used and after each step the sculpture appears more complete and more alive. This is where part of the special shine that makes bronzes come from.
The finish is then the patina, which gives each sculpture even more specialness. There is a patina bath that forms the basis for this. However, other patination solutions are then used to work out different shades and nuances. Only when all this is done and the artist sees his original idea implemented in perfection, is finally sealed and the bronze sculpture is finally finished!
Special works of art
This is how very special works of art are created with bronze sculptures, in which there is not only a lot of love, but also a lot of work. This also explains why these sculptures certainly do not belong to the cheapest category of works of art. But you also get a real special feature that is simply indescribable in terms of design, structure and feel!
