Actually, summer is known for the big and beautiful festivals on the island – but there is a nice exception in Cala Ratjada. There people like to look forward to October, when the dolphinfish festival takes place and attracts many visitors from the island as well as tourists from different countries. For Frank and Laura, the festival has a very special meaning, quite apart from the delicacies that are offered there!
The Dolphinfish Festival – Mostra de la llampuga
The second weekend of October, Cala Ratjada is the place to go for fish lovers! The dolphinfish festival (Mostra de la llampuga) celebrates the popular fish and the many different ways it is prepared. From the fishermen to the restaurants and bars to the hotels, everyone takes part in the event and ensures that enjoyment is not neglected for three days.
In addition to many different ways to enjoy the mahi-mahi in different ways of preparation, there is also a lot to do around it! There is show cooking, good music is provided and there are other things on offer to make the festival a real highlight for Mallorcans, residents and tourists. The anticipation is great this year in particular, because the dolphinfish festival could not take place in the last two years due to Corona. Many visitors are therefore expected from 07 – 09 October 2022 and the tapas competition on Friday evening will attract many fish lovers!
First dates at the dolphinfish festival
For Frank Krüger and his wife Laura, the dolphinfish festival is always a highlight of the year – because it always brings back memories of the time they met. Frank was already living on Mallorca at the time and Laura was on holiday on the island at the time of the festival to soak up some sun before the winter. Many already know the story of how the two met at Cala Agulla. With the party there was also the opportunity for first dates and evenings together! So the festival is always a nice occasion for the two to think back to their first days together!
