For many Frank Krüger fans, the work of art El Pescador is the epitome of Mallorcan island romance. You can see a fisherman who sits alone in his llaut and goes about his daily work at sea. It really doesn’t get any more Mallorca feeling! But what’s the story behind the picture?
El Pescador is a fisherman from Cala Ratjada
For many works of art, the inspiration for this comes from various impressions that the artist collects somewhere. But sometimes it is also a perfect moment that occurs completely suddenly – and which then simply has to be captured on canvas. This is how Frank Krüger felt with the motif “El Pescador”.
A few years ago Frank sat on the harbor wall in Cala Ratjada in the morning and looked out at the sea. After only a short time, a llaut moved into his field of vision. Against the rising sun, he could not see who the fisherman in the boat was until a greeting was called over to him. It was Tomeu, slowly chugging out in his fishing boat, hoping for a good catch. The colors with the sunrise, which was reflected in the calm sea with the llaut in the foreground – that resulted in such a beautiful picture that Frank couldn’t help but hold on to it.
The work of art inspires again and again
From the beginning, “El Pescador” was a work of art that nobody could easily pass by. The eyes stuck to it and even if the original only existed once, countless art prints of this motif have already been sold. So many that Frank Krüger spared no effort and made the work of art available as a giclee print with the German translation “Der Fischer” in order to meet the customer’s wishes.
With impressive dimensions of 180 x 130 cm, this special print with a quality that almost comes close to the original is now an eye-catcher in the Frank Krüger Gallery in Artà and will again attract many admiring glances and certainly also many the desire to simply enjoy the morning mood all by yourself in a little llaut on the sea!
