EL RETROVISOR is an absolute masterpiece by Frank Krüger. A combination of two opposites that could not be better combined: New York and Mallorca. New York is Frank’s favourite city, which he also visits very often.
In 2011, inspired by a visit to New York, he painted EL RETROVISOR. A successful artwork in which Frank has put a lot of passion and time.
DESCRIPTION
Shown is the headland of Cala Agulla (Mallorca) while driving east. The rock formation in the background is affectionately called “El crocodilo” by the locals. The artist’s hand can be seen on the steering wheel. Back then he was driving a Ford Fiesta. The young man on the donkey cart is also a self-portrait of the artist at the age of 15.
In contrast to the rural idyll, New York’s Times Square can be seen in the rear-view mirror, which is usually very hectic. Here the artist depicts that he has just left the busy city of New York to immerse himself in the peace and timelessness of Mallorca.
