In November, Frank Krüger and his wife Laura decided to do something about the ever increasing poverty on the island. The children in particular were important to them – and the prospect of a real Christmas with presents for the little ones! So the idea of an auction came about. Today the town hall in Cala Ratjada was officially handed a check worth 22,000 euros!
Art for a good cause!
To see how more and more people in the municipality of Capdepera are left without work and money and are dependent on the food expenditure of the social welfare office, Frank and Laura broke their hearts. So they didn’t think twice and quickly agreed: “We have to help – especially the children who suffer most from the situation!” Because where there is no money for groceries and other everyday things, there will be no money for Christmas gifts. And a Christmas without presents for the children was unthinkable for both of them!
The artist and his wife started an auction of two original bull paintings quickly and unbureaucratically and the first bids arrived within a very short time. The great people who follow the artist on social media channels and many media supported the campaign and ensured that it became known far beyond the borders of Mallorca. So the idea quickly took off!
A wave of helpfulness
The commandments for the bulls continued to rise quickly and in the background more and more people came forward who wanted to support this action in other ways. Some made donations and the forwarding agent, with whom the artist has worked for a long time, agreed to offer free delivery to Germany.
Anyone who knows Frank knows that he always sets himself big goals and doesn’t give up until he has achieved them. His goal for the auction was 20,000 euros, which he wanted to hand over to the Capdepera social welfare office. So over time, more originals came up for auction. Finally bids were made for seven (!) Paintings and a total of 22,000 euros came together.
Donation presented in the town hall
Now it was the official date for the donation handover and Frank and Laura were allowed to hand over the symbolic check in the town hall of Cala Ratjada. It was a great moment for both of them, one that was above all full of emotions. “Helping the families here in our adopted country is a matter close to our hearts. To see how many people support us in this project has left us in some cases really speechless,” reveals Frank.
It was particularly important to him that everything was transparent at the auction. The money for the auctioned paintings went directly to the social welfare office in Capdepera – in full. Donation receipts could also be issued to the bidders and everyone could be sure that the money would arrive where it was needed.
A very special Christmas
With this donation that this year went to the families of the Capdepera community here on Mallorca, Christmas this year is something very special for the couple. It has always been important to them to give. In this year, when it is so difficult for many people and where many lack hope, it was especially important to them.
Everyone has surely had to overcome some problems in 2020, helping others if you can was really important to the couple. And so they approach the holidays with a warm feeling in their stomachs and are happy that many children’s eyes in the community will shine when they receive gifts despite the difficult times.
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thanks for supporting the campaign with bids, sharing the news, and lots of other things!
