I love Mallorca is an artwork where Frank Krüger expresses his love for the island of Mallorca. All things and memories that the artist associates with the island are present in the picture. The shell chain shown is a very personal detail. The shell was found by the artist’s daughter on the beach at Son Serra de Marina. At her request, Frank has included this necklace in the artwork.
I love Mallorca
After a trip to Mallorca, Frank collects all the souvenirs and mementos. He positions these on a wooden wall and a beautiful complete work is created. In the centre is the used map and around it you can see the different souvenirs. So, the beautiful memories of the journey can be revived.
Above in the middle is the inscription “I love Mallorca” carved. There are also things like a postcard from the 1950s with the image of Cala Rajtada or a typical Majorcan windmill. By the way, these windmills are still to be found around Palma.
Of course, you can also see the old Vespa, which became famous as the first means of transport on Mallorca.
There are also two oil bottles, the oil “Olis Sóller” and on the left side the brand “Aubocassa”. Red wine and hot peppers are of course also included to represent the taste of the island. With the filled wine glass, the artist celebrates his island.
Typical souvenirs
The clay pipe, the so-called “siurell”, is a very popular souvenir among tourists. It presents the old Mallorcan handicraft. It is usually white and decorated with green and red colour elements. Also, very typical is the gecko made of metal. This can be found in almost all souvenir shops in Mallorca.
Most tourists have also heard of the “red lightning”, the Tren de Sóller. Frank has illustrated a ticket of the famous train in his work. Palma is also a much-visited city and many have certainly taken photos with the Palma lettering, which is in front of the cathedral.
Popular work
I love Mallorca is one of the most popular works among the customers of the Galeria Frank Krüger. Why? This motif evokes memories of the beautiful holiday in Mallorca. Many people can identify with the things depicted and some of them have brought the souvenirs home themselves. This work of art connects many holidaymakers with their favourite island Mallorca.
