Traveling is relaxation and inspiration alike – and when we as a family plan our vacation, it is often into great cities that have a lot to offer for all of us. Most recently, our choice fell on Milan, a city that combines art, culture, design and enjoyment and captivated us when you visit her. We will certainly not forget these days so quickly!
Milan is full of art and culture!
As an artist, it is very special to visit Milan. So it was really overwhelming to visit the Milan Cathedral, which is considered one of the largest churches in the world. The facade alone is gigantic and the walls are decorated with over 2000 sculptures by different artists and craftsmen from different eras. So there is something new to discover with every look!
It was very impressive for me as an artist – but nothing compared to being able to stand in front of one of the most famous murals in the world! In a tour we were allowed to look at “the last sacrament” by Leonardo da Vinci up close and in particular it made me speechless and, above all, very touched. Vinci worked on the big painting (422 cm × 904 cm) for three years and to this day it has been restored several times to stop the image of the image. But it is precisely the imperfect that was created by the age of the wall painting, it makes it as beautiful, which can stall your breath.
Design and fashion where you look!
If you think of Milan, then of course also fashion and design! During the time we visited the city, the Milan Fashion Week took place – a highlight for Laura and Lara! The whole city shone again in a very special shine and alone the lush shop windows and the presentation of the new trends not only inspires women!
So visiting the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was a highlight for all of us! The shopping arcade, in which designer labels such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada and others can be found, is also more than impressive by the architecture. The shopping gallery consists of two courses that cross and are covered in the middle of a huge glass dome. On the floors there are four large mosaics that decorate the coat of arms of the cities of Rome, Turin, Florence and Milan and the passage itself is lavishly decorated with stucco, frescoes and marble.
Enjoyment for all the senses!
Where there were so many impressions of us, the breaks were of course also very important in order to really process all of this. Here, too, Milan with its great restaurants and bars offers countless ways to just take a moment and also enjoy the city’s culinary highlights. And of course a lively aperol is also part of it when we already visit Milan!
All in all, the journey was full of unforgettable moments and of course also full of inspiration! I not only use such holidays as a person, but of course especially as an artist. They nurture creativity and promote my constant development!
