A new year is always exciting! The new year then lies open in front of you like a blank book and on New Year’s Eve the old year is duly said goodbye and the new one is properly celebrated. How you approach the turn of the year is very different. Some stay comfortably at home, others are looking for the big party – and Laura and Frank Krüger just did it completely differently this time!
Turn of the year: cycling instead of sliding!
Just do something different – that was the idea with which Laura and Frank planned their New Year’s Eve 2022/2023. And they did it really beautifully and unusually. On December 31, 2022, they worked in the gallery in Palma until the early afternoon before checking into a hotel in the island’s capital. After a great dinner, came the rather unusual part: They jumped on their bikes and rode through Palma at night!
Just in time for the turn of the year, they were with many other islanders and guests on the Plaça Cort in Palma and counted down the last seconds, then with every chime they ate a grape and of course toasted with a glass of champagne! Although there was no public New Year’s Eve celebration on Plaça Cort this time, many people had gathered and celebrated the turn of the year together! Then Frank and Laura got back on their bikes and did a tour of the Santa Catalina district, where of course they also visited one or the other bar.
A whole new experience
Experiencing Palma by bike at night was a whole new experience for the couple and they really enjoyed the vibe. While people stood everywhere and waited a long time for taxis, they were mobile and could move quickly on almost empty streets. So they just let themselves drift and experienced New Year’s Eve in a completely different way than usual! In the end, the way to the hotel wasn’t very far and so the two of them could return home relaxed and rested the next day.
Always trying new things, even if they are unconventional, is simply part of it for Frank and Laura! After all, life has a lot to offer, you can gain a lot of experience and whether something is good or bad, you only know when you’ve done it! The artist and his wife are always breaking new ground – both privately and professionally. And it is precisely this curiosity about life, this flexibility and desire to experience things that is one of the things that makes them special!
