How to turn a dinner in Canyamel into an exclusive tour of the Henraux marble quarry? Well, that’s a story only life can write. On their trip to Italy, the artist Frank Krüger and his wife Laura were not only able to experience how white marble is mined and processed, but were also in contact with other impressive artists and came back to Mallorca with a lot of new impulses!
White marble everywhere you look
Marble is impressive in itself and always carries a certain image of luxury. However, it’s even more impressive when it’s white marble – because that’s really the most well-known variant and, depending on the quality, can cost a small fortune. During their visit to Italy, Frank and Laura got the opportunity to visit the Henraux marble quarry and see how the marble is quarried there and how it becomes the impressive large blocks that can be seen everywhere.
Normally the quarry is not open to tourists, but an artist they visited made it possible for them to visit and gave them a great experience. To be on the move on the huge site and to see the quarrying and the marble blocks in such quantities was really very impressive. And all this was possible because Frank and Laura accidentally met the Italian artist Emanuele Gianelli while having dinner in Canyamel. We have already written about this evening and, so to speak, the prelude to the trip to Italy here in the blog.
Great people and impressive art
After visiting the marble quarry, the next highlight of the trip came: a visit to the artists Cynthia Sah and Nicolas Bertoux, where white marble is processed into beautiful works of art. There, Frank and Laura could not only take a close look at the works of art, but also see the artists at work. And where artists are among themselves, there is of course also a lot of talking and the exchange is in the foreground alongside the works of art.
Frank and Laura were able to take many new impressions with them from their short trip to Italy, but also great contacts and – how could it be otherwise – impressive art, which they will soon be offering in the galleries on Mallorca! The little time in Italy was filled with great encounters, interesting insights and of course a little sightseeing and will certainly be kept in good memory!
